Snow Removal
The Village of Elida is committed to keeping our roads safe and passable during the winter months. We ask for your cooperation to ensure snow removal efforts are effective and safe for everyone in our community.

Snow Plowing Procedures
- Main roads and emergency routes are plowed first, followed by secondary streets and residential areas.
- Snow removal begins as soon as conditions warrant and continues until roads are cleared.
- Plow crews work long hours — including nights, weekends, and holidays — to ensure your safety.
Keep Streets Clear
To help us plow quickly and safely:
- Please move all vehicles off the street during snow events
- This ensures plow trucks can clear the entire roadway and reduces the risk of damage to vehicles or equipment
Ohio Snow Emergency Levels
The Village of Elida follows Allen County’s snow emergency declarations, which include:
- Level 1: Roads are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Drive cautiously.
- Level 2: Roads are very hazardous. Only travel if necessary.
- Level 3: Travel is prohibited except for emergency vehicles. Violators may be cited.
You can check emergency levels by contacting the Allen County Sheriff’s Office or visiting their website.
A Note About Our Drivers
Our snow plow crews work hard in tough conditions to keep Elida safe. Please give them plenty of space on the road and be patient as they work through their routes.
Your cooperation keeps our drivers safe — and helps them do their job better for everyone.
