The Village of Elida is fortunate to have a strong partnership with the American Township Fire Department (ATFD), ensuring professional, compassionate service across fire and EMS needs. ATFD provides comprehensive fire suppression, rescue, and Emergency Medical Services for Elida.

This department includes a combination of career and volunteer firefighters and EMTs, ensuring around-the-clock coverage for:
- Fire suppression
- Rescue operations
- Emergency medical response (EMS)
With two strategically located stations—one in Elida and another in Lima—the department serves not only Elida village but also surrounding areas such as American Township as well as parts of Marion, Amanda, and Sugar Creek townships
